I know that there is a much bigger group of good people than bad, but it makes me so happy to have a cheerful little corner of the digiscrap industry. Rarely am I ever caught up in conflict, but I have seen so many downright mean and despicable things that it makes my heart ache for anyone who has ever been hurt or used or abused because of our hobby. It really is sad. Today, however, I was uplifted by Corina Nielsen‘s blog…she posted a little “be kind” freebie and I think it’s just the sweetest thing ever. (kinda wish I’d thought of it hee hee 🙂 Here’s a layout I made with it today…Lara has been asking me every day to take pictures, and I thought this one was amazing that she took….she’s really getting good! LOL 🙂
CREDITS Thanks, Corina! 🙂
So, in an effort to be kind, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for all of you who have ever supported Songbird Avenue in any way. Meredith and I are extremely lucky that you all trust us to put your money to good use and we are always so grateful for the praise, kudos, support, and commitment you have towards the project. We have raised over $6000 because of your kindness! Not a bit of what we’ve accomplished could have happened without your generous and continued donations. Thank you so much. And just to further extend my thanks, I will give away a $25 gift certificate to the Shabby Shoppe to a random commenter on this post. Just leave a comment on this post telling me on ekind thing you have done today and I will pick one lucky winner tomorrow morning. 🙂
Ciao, all! And do something kind for someone today. 🙂

Doesn’t Corina ROCK?!? This is her second Be Kind freebie!
Lovin’ the layout…I felt exactly the same way when I came to the end of HP7…I can’t believe there won’t be any more books!! I started back at HP1 so that I could read through the whole series without having to wait for each new book and I am finally gonna watch the movies too!! 🙂
I am in awe of how successful SA has been…$6000!!! That’s just amazing!!! I hop you guys continue to be successful for a long, long time!! It’s so nice to see people donate for such wonderful causes and helps me to see that there really is a caring side to our community!! 🙂
As for something kind today…it’s only 7am here!!! But I’ll think of something!! 🙂

K – so don’t count me – I have been too busy getting the boys into school to do nice things right now – LOL and I work to SA, so that shouldn’t count anyway – LOL! But you rawk, Jan – truely you do!
Love that photo! How fun that Lara took it and you scrapped it! 🙂
I still haven’t erad the HP series, we have watched a 2 of the movies, but that’s it so far. Someday…

Hey Jan – great layout. I love that Lara took the picture, what a budding photographer she is. I love Cornina’s freebie also. I wish I could try all negatives into a positive. Well, for a kind thing, the only thing I could come up with today is that I have sat through 3 car pool lines at school and not cursed anyone out yet (I came close with one lady:) I was kind and courtous and tried to let people in front of me. I don’t know if that counts or not but I haven’t left the house for anything other than to take the kids to school and pick Chase up. I’m on my way out now to pick up Breanna. Wish me luck, I don’t want to mess up my good day so far.
Love you girl, Laura

Hi Jan–
What a great idea! Kudos to Corina for thinking it up and to you for promoting it so well with your terrific LO.
I am also VERY impressed with the amount of $$$ that Songbird has raised so far. Not only do you get some of the best scrappin’ stuff around from really awesome designers you’re helping a great cause when you buy! What a wonderful way to give back! I’m glad you and Meredith thought it up.
You & Corina did inspire me to do some nice things today so here is my list:
Reached out to a person that usually frustrates me at work—we had a nice conversation and I really thought about why she frustrates me and how I can get over it since I really like her as a person. Accentuate the positive if you will…
Had lunch with a friend that is moving away 😦
Emailed several friends that I don’t talk to regularly just to say hello and have a great day!—Several of us even scheduled a lunch next week!
Cooked one of my husband’s favorite dinners for him— Just because…
Okay—so none of it is going to change the world tonight, but I like to think I brightened my little corner! Thanks for the prompt to do it. Sometimes we all need a little shove in the right direction and you were mine!
Have a wonderful day and thanks again!

oh jan, i so know what u mean about the mean people and i am sorry if anyone has said ugly stuff or stolen your great ideas.. i dont know why women have to be that way.
i agree with your acts of kindness. i think it does make a difference. thur while coming in from business flight i went to the wrong parking building..which i think was ordained. walked over to the correct building and while getting in my car noticed a mom and young son walking the roof..looking exhasperated… in 100+ heat. i pulled up and offered to help them find their car. she had been anxious about putting her daughters on a plane that she did not pay close attn to where she parked the car. all in all we finally found her car in the next parking building over… they all look EXACTLY the same. when asked if she could give me anything i just said i hope if i lose my car in the middle of a texas summer that someone ‘not scary’ would offer to help me find my car. ….. i think all us nice people need to stick together!
