Hey everyone!

Ok, it has come time to say goodbye to WordPress. It’s great, for a free blog and all, but it just isn’t cutting it anymore. I’m very disappointed that you can’t embed java script into this thing and it’s very limited in how much you can customize it. So, I’m returning to Typepad. (Typepad, can you ever forgive me!!) I’m in the process of importing my old Typepad blog and this WordPress blog onto my new blog. I know…I’m ridiculous.

Anywho, the new address is:

It’s not linked to my site yet, so you have to go there separately. Hopefully I’ll have that done in a couple of days! Thanks for stopping by! πŸ™‚ Ciao!

It seems my blog posts get fewer and farther between! I guess that’s what happens when you have a busy summer! πŸ™‚ My father-in-law is visiting now and he’s been here for a week and a half already. He leaves on Friday and we have been trying to fit in as much fun stuff as possible. πŸ™‚

Here’s a quick recap:

Went to Stamford and walked around downtown. Found a pretty little picnic area and we fed the ducks.

Then Colin took his dad and the older girls to an air show over the weekend. They had a good time. πŸ™‚

Then while we were driving around yesterday, we dropped some broken appliances off at the recycling center/dump and I found this little tea set in a box. They keep they furniture, toys, and random stuff at the front and you can pay to haul it away. I bought a solid wood coffee table with drawers from them previously. All it needed was some soap and elbow grease. The kids use it for their coloring table now. It’s perfect! So, anyway, this little tea set was only 1 pound. πŸ™‚ Gotta love that. I brought it home and scrubbed and polished the heck out of it.

Noodle has not stopped playing with it. And she cries when she can’t find it.

A very happy Noodle.

Other than that, we’re just hanging out, enjoying my father-in-law while he’s here. Yesterday was Colin’s birthday and tomorrow is my FIL’s, so we’ve had and are going to have lots of birthday cake and presents. πŸ™‚ It’s been a good couple of weeks. I hope everyone is doing well. Ciao!

I hate going to the doctor. I seem to be going a lot lately and it sticks. Royally. I broke down and went this morning because I felt like I was running on fumes. I was sleepy all the time and cranky and had extremely low energy. My throat is so swollen that it is unbearable to eat anything other than ice cream and popsicles. And, yes, they’re tasty, and yes, I just bought two more boxes of them, but this was getting slightly out of hand.

So, this morning I went to the doctor and guess what. Tonsillitis, folks. I have to take a total of 112 antibiotic pills. Come on! That’s crazy talk! But, yeah…apparently I have to take these suckers 4 times a day (2 pills) for TWO WEEKS. I’m not good with pills. I am extremely forgetful. And NO, that is NOT why we have 3 kiddos…. πŸ™‚

So, Colin always ends up calling me from work to ask: “Did ya take yer piiiiiiilllllssss?” in his old man voice. He thinks this is the funniest thing in the world and I think it’s his favorite hubby duty. I am going to try my hardest to remember to do this 4 times a day so that when he does call and ask: “Did ya take yer piiiiiiilllllllsssss?”, I’ll be able to shout “YES!!!!” and then I can hang up on him. πŸ™‚

So, anyway…just thought I’d update on my health status. Cuz you really wanted to know, didn’t you? πŸ™‚

Also, I’ve decided on introducing a new blog category. I consider us a pretty well-traveled family. But our brand of traveling consists of a lot of eating. We have found some amazing dishes along the way and we have also cleared the air on a lot of food “mysteries”. So, I thought it would be fun to share those experiences with you all.

This mini revelation came about over the weekend when our guest, Kerri, got excited about going to a traditional tea room here in England and she asked: “I get to have tea and crumpets?”

Not a single one of us had a clue as to what a crumpet was.

But we do now. And all shall be revealed in exciting, breathtaking, pre-Smell-O-Vision, bite-sized chunks! I can’t wait! πŸ™‚

I’m surprised anyone even checks this blog anymore. Sorry I haven’t been around. Our life has been absolutely insane the last few weeks. Each of us has been sick in turn, although I have born the brunt of most of it. Let’s sum it up with “ALLERGIESHIVESSINUSRAGINGSORETHROATMIGRAINES” and call it a day. πŸ™‚ The sore throat is still hanging on for dear life. No amount of saltwater gargling, heavy duty lozenges, Chloraseptic spray or tea is helping. Although…ice cream feels really good. And popsicles. Mmmmm…popsicles. So, needless to say, I have lost a few pounds over the last few days andΒ  my tummy is continually growling as the only thing I can manage to get through my incredibly swollen ( and raw and scratchy) throat is ice-cold, sugar-filled nothingness.

also, we have had 3 house guests on two separate occasions. (Our latest left just this morning.) And our next one arrive sin a week. We’ve got quite a busy summer ahead of us. And, of course, in all the frenzy of the past few weeks I managed to get a few new products into the store but then ran out of steam when it came to telling everyone about them. Yay, me!

So I’m going to make a couple of posts covering our latest adventures. And, yes, I still went on all the day trips and tried to be a trooper. That’s what good hostesses do, right? πŸ™‚ K, I’ll update more in a bit when I’ve got the edited photos. πŸ™‚ Ciao!

It seems like everything and everyone is speeding by me lately. I’m good if I can just stay afloat! πŸ™‚

I wish I could say that I’m designing…but I’m not. I’m wrapping up the June kit for Songbird Avenue and I have a ton of layouts I need to do for my creative teams. Man, these girls put out some awesome stuff! And of course I’m always working on behind the scenes things that seem to continually creep ahead of my own stuff on the old priority list. Oh well. I guess that means business is good, right!??! So, I guess I should stop whining about it. πŸ™‚

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say howdy. I gotta dash. But before I go, I thought I’d share some bento pics…haven’t posted any of those in a while. πŸ™‚

The first one is won tons with mushrooms, snap peas, and baby corn. There is rice in the shape of a bear’s head and pancakes with fruit and powdered sugar. I’ve noticed that if I put powdered sugar on them, the kids don’t ask for syrup. Good trade, I think. The second one is a Caprese salad with fresh rosemary, a rice star, fruit salad (pear, kiwi, blueberries, nectarines), and mini pancakes.

One of the things I do when we have pancakes during the weekend is I make about a dozen mini ones right at the end. You know, there’s always that tiny bit of batter left over and you never know what to do with it and most people don’t eat leftover pancakes…so I just make mini ones and toss them in the kids’ lunches. they love them with fresh strawberries. And I don’t waster perfectly good scratch batter.

Alright, I really have to go back to work now. πŸ™‚ Ciao, all. Happy Wednesday!

Ok, so last night I’m walking past Noodle’s room and I poked my head in to see if she was still chubby. (She was.) Out of the corner of my eye, I see this black dot move. Keep in mind, it was in the evening. There was hardly any light left. So, I walked further into her room and there is seriously the biggest spider I have seen since we moved form Georgia. (The ones in Georgia could kill squirrels, I’m sure, with no problems. Don’t even get me started on those nasty suckers.) So, being the good Mommy I am, I run into the bathroom and get the rinse cup from the tub and run back into the bedroom and try to slyly slip the cup over the big, honkin’ thing. I missed. And let’s just say when this thing moves, she moves. Holy crap I flew back so fast.

To say I don’t like spiders is a huge understatement. I understand that spiders are God’s creatures and that they serve a purpose in this world, but I’m almost positive that the Almighty was experimenting when He made them. He probably thought they were bizarre and weird (I mean, what would you create if you could?) But, being all powerful and compassionate and all that, I’m sure He let the spider live for the sake of His own divine conscience.

It’s all very Trek-y if you ask me. Like when Captain Picard got that one, lone Borg and taught it be independent with the intention of sending it back to the Collective to infect the others and destroy the Borg completely. And then he felt bad because it was interfering with the Prime Directive because he had essentially created new life and now he was contemplating destroying it. What? You didn’t make that connection? Is my nerd showing? Ok, sorry. So…where was I? ah…

Ok, so the spider got away from me and ran behind Noodle’s dresser. So, I hatched a plan. I pulled out the changing table and the dresser to find Spidey in the corner. I didn’t want him to run back under the dresser and towards Noodle, so I took some books off the shelf and lined then up along the bottom of the dresser. The only way to get out of there was through me. I got my trusty rinse cup and place it just above his head and then I dropped it down.

Ok, so now I had to find a way to get him out of there. And ya know, let’s just stop a second and think on how deep the Noodle sleeps. She stirred not once. Nothing. No twitching, so stirring. Nada. No clue as to the heroic efforts I was displaying to to save her little, chubby life from the big, bad spider. So, I grabbed a flashcard from the shelf and slipped it under the cup. I marched that nasty thing downstairs and triumphantly showed it to Colin who guffawed loudly and was surprised and proud that I hadn’t screamed like a little ninny the second I saw it. He said I was like a ninja. A ninja with board books and rinse cups. Hey, it’s still a ninja.

We sat around and looked at it and said “Holy crap.” many, many times. Then we tried to find a suitable object to display it’s scale (hence the Carmex).

Now I’m off to release it in the far side of the garden. As much as I hate it, I can’t kill it. I will just glare at it until I’m sufficiently satisfied.

K, so that’s it. That my excitement for the week. It’s amazing how far I can stretch a tale of my so-called heroics, huh? I mean, the spider’s not that big in real life. But for the future stories I will spin (pardon the pun), the spider will be the size of my hand and I will have caught it MacGyver-like with a needle and thread and a basketball hoop.

I wish I had time to update with all the photos from the weekend, but considering I am just now getting a chance to even come on the blog and tell you I have zero time to do that…I don’t think it’s going to happen anytime soon. I’ve got a gazillion things on my plate, so I’ll just leave you with a rare family portrait. This is from St. Albans which turned out to be a total bust. πŸ™‚ We tried, but it just wasn’t a very good day trip. eh. You win some, you lose some.

I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday. It’s back to work for me! πŸ™‚ Ciao!

This week is creeping by at a snail’s pace. And spring break is entirely too long here in jolly ol’ England. 2 and a half weeks is just insane. I’m so thankful the weather has made a turn for the better. The kidlets have been outside all day, every day. I am so missing our routine! πŸ™‚

On the bright side, I get to leave for Paris in 2 days. I’ve already picked out my outfits. And today I went and got my hair did. Chopped the heck out of it and went blonde.

Well, not totally….but enough. πŸ˜‰

I’ve never been a crazy hair person. I’ve always been very conservative with my chocolate locks. But something inside of me just needed some blonde. A splash of yellow to spice up my life. A bit of zing to my otherwise humdrum do.

I’ll post a better picture later. Ya know…when I have my face on. πŸ™‚

The April Songbird Avenue kit is up! YAY! We teamed up with Leora Sanford who is a wonderful friend of mine and I’m so happy to help her donate to ProLiteracy!

Here’s a layout I made with it. The colors are so fresh and fun!

Full credits HERE.

And I need to show off a fabulous kit over at Oscraps. A couple of my fave designers teamed up for one heckuva collaboration! This is B-Side by Paislee Press and TaylorMade Designs.

And here’s a layout I made with it. πŸ™‚ Full credits HERE.

I just love this kit. You can’t go wrong with aubergine and olive!! Almost good enough to eat!

I hope everyone’s having a fabulous day!

Is it still Wednesday!?!?

“This looks like a nice spot to rustle me up some grub.”

“Let me strike a pose for the lady who should be working.”

I just really don’t get enough accomplished during the day. This is one of the drawbacks to being a room full of windows. The birds. These little turds are so darn cute and they play all day long and sometimes I just sit back and see what they’re up to. This one was about to get a ticket for loitering when I finally realized that he was just hungry. So he’s just hangin’ out, waiting for that poor unfortunate wormy worm to dare and peek out. After her got his snack on, he noticed me (and the big huge black thing I was pointing at his head) and he decided to skedaddle on out of here.’s he back…my little feathery sentinel.

Ok, so on with things people actually want to hear about πŸ™‚

First up, if you haven’t checked out Songbird Avenue‘s February kit, you’re missing out! It is jam-packed full of exclusive goodness. Susan Bartolini (Chef) is our guest designer and you really don’t want to miss this one!

Also, there is a scraplift challenge going on over at the Songbird Blog. There are lots of prizes to be had! Hurry and don’t miss out on this kit. Cuz come March 1st, it’s gone, baby!

And I’m still busy as all heck gearing up for a bit of a birthday bash. And I guess I should have clarified yesterday about my age. πŸ™‚ I’m not actually turning 30. I’ll be 28, but it’s still getting closer to 30 than I would like. I can hear you now… “Geez, lady! Get over it!!” But I’m not one of those chicks who accepts age with grace. No siree. I’ll be fighting it tooth and nail until I’m too old to move. And then I’ll have my wrinkly old head transferred to a hot chick’s body when I can no longer walk.

It’s nice to have a springtime birthday, though. Spring is when I feel all refreshed and such. My body and mind move in time with the seasons and it seems like each year I start fresh and rejuvenated with spring and end up old and cranky by the end of it come winter. So, as much as I dread the birthdays, it’s nice to know that winter’s almost over and I move on.

As speaking of all that, here’s a sneaky peekyΒ  of what’s in store…it’s a teeny peek, tho…don’t wanna give too much away. πŸ˜‰

Ooh, I can’t wait!! πŸ™‚

I’m hoping the temperature doesn’t drop today just so I can look at these webs all day. I think they’re beautiful. And they were so unexpected while making my morning coffee. πŸ™‚
