Ok, apparently I have a bit of a Southern accent. Once a Texan, always a Texan, I guess. πŸ™‚ I really don’t know what compelled me to do this video. It’s kinda long and I think I was just rambling. I love how at the end I managed to say “I think I’m gonna cut this short.” Yeah, right! What a windbag! πŸ™‚

Also, I talk really loud and I can’t edit the thumbnail image. Go figure. πŸ˜‰

While our dear friend, Kerri, was visiting a few weeks ago, she took a bunch of little video clips and tons of photos of all of us. Well, she compiled them into the cutest little video! I just had to share. Enjoy a bit of our craziness! πŸ™‚

Let’s spice it up a bit around here! Father’s Day is right around the corner for a lot of us and I thought it would be fun to have a little contest on the old blog about the guys in our life and how much we love ’em! This can be any guy….your husband, son, boyfriend, father, uncle, your puppy. Run with it! πŸ™‚

All you have to do is create a layout showcasing a special guy in your life, and leave a layout link in the comments section above along with your email or username at Oscraps.com so I can contact you.

Everyone who enters will win this brand new template!

One lucky winner will win Shy Guy and one lucky winner will win a $10 gift certificate to my store! But, hurry, because the contest ends on June 5th at midnight!

And to make it easier, I’m offering my layout here as a freebie. Yeah, that’s right. πŸ™‚ So, you don’t even have to stress about doing a layout. πŸ™‚ Click here to download: SHY GY QP

And check out some rockin’ pages from some of my CT members!

This one is by the fabulous Christine (supertwinkle).

This one is by Liz of Paislee Press. I just adore these photos!

And this sweet layout is by Nina. She also used my heart swirls. Love those!

So let’s get scrappin’! I can’t wait to see all of your layouts! πŸ™‚

Well, we’d planned on going to Legoland, but Noodle came down with a seriously icky infection. She actually fell asleep on the couch (on top of my huge and embarrassing pile of laundry). The funny thing is that just to the right of her, Colin is jamming out on the drums, playing RockBand. Guess she’s really tired. πŸ™‚

So, we’ve put that trip on hold til she’s better. I’m glad we didn’t actually tell Lara that we were going there…we just told her it was a surprise…so she wasn’t too bummed. But we’ll get there eventually, hopefully we’ll all be well with no goop or ickies. πŸ™‚

For Lara’s birthday we opened up her gifts from the family and we made her a special birthday breakfast. it was very low key, but she got to hang out and play with all her new stuff, so she had a blast. πŸ™‚

As for me, I’ve got some fun stuff coming up in the next few days…

Only 3 more days to grab the May kit at Songbird Avenue! We have raised an insane amount of money! Can’t wait to get the final total!

Then we get to release the June kit! It’s amazing! You don’t wanna miss it!

June 1st also marks the beginning of a 3 month guest designer spot I’ve been blessed with at Digital Artist Magazine. So excited about it! Can’t wait to see the June issue!

And tomorrow I’ve got a contest on the blog that I’ll be hosting. Should be lots of fun! A new product and whatnot…

So, that’s about it. I’m going to try to stay away from the blog for a few days while the contest runs. I’m hoping that my designing drought has finally come to an end. I got some serious cheering up from a wonderful friend yesterday and I think it did the trick!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. It’s partly sunny and mild today so I think we’re grillin’ for dinner. πŸ™‚

Ok, I’m done updating. If you are wondering what the heck is going on, the last 6 posts are day trips that we’ve taken in the last month. And I just now finished posting them all. It took me almost 2 days!

Let’s get back to our regularly scheduledΒ  programming…let’s see…what’s up with us lately? I’m busy working on the June Songbird kit, trying to squeeze in some of my own designing in (there seems to be a severe shortage of new designs coming from me, huh?), we’re in the middle of spring cleaning. We’re being ruthless and taking it slowly. Room by room, this house is being purged. We have a ginormous box of books, dvds, and magazines that we are donating to the library. Another box is set aside for all the clothes that are going to the thrift store. We’ve done the garage, the living room, the hallway and our bedroom. I think tonight we are tackling the sun room. The sun room used to be my office.

To add to the chaos of the last few weeks, I decided to move my office into the dining room. I love love loved the sunroom, but it was just too darn bright in there. It got to the point where I could barely see my screen and I had a serious twitch in my lower left eyelid that was insanely annoying and so not conducive to work. So, I decided to move my office out of direct sunlight and lo and behold…gradually my freak eye calmed down. And now it’s completely gone. It was just so bizarre having a twitchy eye. I would press my fingers to my lower lid and hold it down so I wouldn’t feel the movement. But every time I took my hand away, i could feel it again. UGH.

Anywho, problem is now solved. No more twitching. Jan is happy.

So the sun room is now the playroom. We’re going to clean it out tonight and figure out just what kind of storage we’ll need in there. We don’t have a good mental inventory of their toys and games, so it’s kinda hard to judge what we’ll need til after we clean it all out… and sort it. *shudder*

So, wanna see my new office? πŸ™‚

The dining room table is about 4 feet behind my chair. I just moved the table so you could see the whole thing. You see my ladybug? Noodle made that for me at the gym daycare yesterday. I love it. πŸ™‚ It’s a happy little bug.

My office is much smaller now, but I think it’s better. It’s much more efficient. I still have some very large boxes of scrap stuff that I need to go through, but I have a place for that. The hallway cabinet is where we kept the girls’ art junk. But since we’re going to move that into the sun room tonight, I’ll be able to use that cabinet for my scrap goodies. It’s the perfect size, too.

Let’s see…what else? Our van should be here in about 4 weeks. That seems like forever. What seems even stranger is that we have already been waiting 8 weeks. With all these trips we’re taking in a cramped car with no A/C and more noise than a helicopter can muster, the van seems like a million miles away.

And…I’ve started my own site. I’ve actually owned the domain for a while now, but I haven’t gotten the design the way I really wanted it. It’s only halfway done right now, but you are welcome to check it out so far. It’s not hidden or anything. πŸ™‚

www.thequeenofquirk.com

It won’t be anything fancy..just a portfolio sort of site where you can find everything I’m doing. The blog is already linked up there, so if you want to change your blog roll you can do that.

Let’s see….anything else?

OH! How could I forget? Lara’s birthday is next weekend, but since it falls during their school break we are having her party this Saturday. We’re hosting a luau for her and 7 of her friends. I’m pretty excited. We got grass skirts, (I was bummed because in the description they were natural, but the ones I got are green. Oh well. Too late now.) leis, an 6 ft inflatable palm tree and tons of decorations. We are going to stage photos with all the girls so they can take them home. Oh! And we got a ukulele. πŸ™‚

I’m trying to figure out what we’re going to do for food, though. I have no clue. I’m going to make fruit kabobs, but after that I’m stuck. Anyone have any ideas? I’d be so grateful!

K, so I guess that’s about it. I need to get a few things done before Noodle and I go pick up the big girls. And then I want to get started on the cleaning a bit before Colin gets home. Ciao, all! Happy Wednesday! πŸ™‚

A little known fact about me is that I adore history…but I especially adore social history. And with social history comes the fascinating world of vintage fashion. Then that vintage fashion knowledge creeps its way into my current shopping mindset and Voila! You have a girl obsessed with all things classic, reworked with modern twists and fresh colors.

Why are you talking about this, Jan?

Well, I’ll tell ya. πŸ™‚ Because I have finally found the perfect boots for me. If I’ve learned anything in all my years of shopping: Hold out for something you really love. For years, I have wanted knee-high black boots. And for years I have continually passed over hundreds of perfectly lovely boots. None of them were ever really deserving of a place in my closet. That all changed on Thursday.

These darlings are perfect for me. ( Although, these are a bit different from mine…mine have a kitten heel.) It’s kinda like something a Victorian “Madame” would wear…if you catch my drift πŸ˜‰ . I’m no Madame…but I do enjoy a good boot. So, that’s all I have for today. My gushing ramblings on my new shoe love. Worthy of a blog post? I don’t know. Am I going to go try them on right now? Why, yes. Yes, I am.

Some cities are fun. “All-out, laugh-your-tush-off, drink stout, porter, lager and be merry” fun. Dublin is one of those cities and I highly recommend it for a rompin’ good time. My new all-time fave shot of me and the hubbs.dublin4.jpg

Unfortunately, I can’t stay long…lots of things to do to get ready for our big trip back to los Estados Unidos. 12 hours on a non-stop flight to Vegas. Nummy Lummy good times ahead! :0)

Ciao all! See you on the other side of the pond!

Sorry I’ve been so scarce lately! Things are a bit insane…finishing up the June goodies for the Ave., getting ready for our weekend in Ireland (we leave in 4 hours!), answering a ton of emails, and in general trying not to drop the 50 million things I’m holding on to! LOL!

So, I’ll be a bit out of the loop for a couple of weeks. After we get back from Ireland, we’re taking a couple of weeks off and heading back to the States to see the fam. I will have a bit of internet access and will do my best to answer the important emails, but everything else will have to be on hold. Doctor’s orders! LOL

I hope everyone has a great couple of weeks!

And don’t forget! You have less than 2 weeks to grab your Songbird Avenue kit! Once it’s gone, it’s gone, sugah!

Ciao! πŸ™‚
